PUBLIC NOTICE – FSD MOÇAMBIQUE (FSDMOÇ) IN LIMITED OPERATIONS AMID COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In light of the Global COVID-19 pandemic and its spread and impact in Mozambique and in compliance with directives from  the Government and health Authorities on preventative measures such as social distancing, and also thinking on the safety and well-being of our staff members, partners and stakeholders, FSD Moçambique has decided that from 26th March 2020 our office will be closed and our staff will work remotely. This will be for an undetermined period and we will be updated as sooner as more guidelines are provided by the Mozambican Government and other official sources.

SUPPORTING DATA-DRIVEN INNOVATION AND INVESTMENT IN THE SADC REGION

SADC launches an innovation challenge – Financial inclusion innovation and investment challenge. The challenge will be implemented over a 16-week period, with 8-10 teams selected per country. The countries involved are Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia; and Four winners will be selected from each country.

The challenge has 4 thematic areas:

Developing solutions for:

  • SMME Financing;
  • Women and Savings;
  • Digital Financial Identity
  • Access to Basic Service.

UK-AFRICA INVESTMENT SUMMIT

FSDMoç is participating on the UK Africa Investment Summit 2020, the event is taking place in London on 20 January 2020 and is expected to have the participation of 21 African countries.

The summit will create new, lasting partnerships that will deliver more investment, jobs and growth. It will bring together UK and African business representatives, African leaders, international institutions and young entrepreneurs to create new partnerships.

FSDMOÇ LAUNCHES ITS ANNUAL PUBLICATION 2018/2019

The Financial Sector Deepening Mozambique (FSDMoç), a program funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Swedish Department for International Development, will launch its Annual Publication “Towards Digital Inclusion to Build More Access, More Usage, More Interaction and Best Ecosystem “on May 22, 2019.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, The Mozambique Central Bank and the Financial Sector Deepening Mozambique (FSDMoç) held last Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, located at Av. Julius Nyerere, No. 469, at Maputo City, the official launch of FinScope Consumer Survey Mozambique 2019

The FinScope Consumer Survey Mozambique  – Finscope 2019 is a representative survey that provides an overview of the financial behaviour of adult Mozambicans (aged 16 and older) in the manner and behaviours of how they manage their money.

Due to the limitations resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held online through the ZOOM platform.

The event was attended by, among others, His Excellency Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr Carla Alexandra Fernandes Loveira, Representative of the British High Commissioner His Excellency Deputy High Commissioner Dr Alexandra Sheppard and  Mozambique Central Bank  Administrator Dr Gertrudes Tovela.

 

6TH EASTERN AND SOUTHERN AFRICA REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON INCLUSIVE INSURANCE

Will take place March 23rd to 25th 2021 the 6th Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Conference on Inclusive Insurance, the conference is part of a series of regional learning sessions aimed at contributing for the development of inclusive insurance markets in Africa. The 6th regional conference will be conducted virtually and is hosted by Association of Insurers of Mozambique (AMS), Instituto de Supervisão de Seguros de Moçambique (ISSM), Financial Sector Deepening Mozambique (FSDMoç) and Munich Re Foundation and supported by FinProbity Solutions.

This digital edition of the regional conference will be a combination of high-quality training and plenary sessions designed to share insights into inclusive insurance business models that are making it possible to access low-income market segments in Africa.

Topics such as the Landscape of Inclusive Insurance in Mozambique, Disaster risk financing and agricultural insurance, Bottomline and topline strategies for inclusive insurance business, Inclusive Health Insurance Solutions, Digital Solutions for Inclusive Insurance and Inclusive insurance market development and consumer education will be addressed during the conference.
